HOT weather IAQ and you.

As most everyone is aware this summer has been a hot one so far with no signs of letting up. That means we are spending more time indoors with the AC running full blast and the Indoor Air Quality( IAQ) is going down..

Why down you say. ??

When we spend more time inside the doors, windows are kept closed all the pollutents that come in with us as we travel around from home to work, the grocery store and of course the mall are trapped in there with us. Its harder to get the vacuum out as we are tired from the heat and work in general so letting it ride a bit longer seem easy way out..

Unfortunately that means you and your family are breathing in more and more of this polluted air.. What can you do about this problem.. Glad you ask..!!

1.)... run the vacuum more often.. but before you turn it on remove and replace the bag first thing, if so equipped. If not make sure the dust cup is clean and all filters are removed and washed out with soap and water,. Also if you have a hepa filter make sure it clean or replace with new one.

2.) check the air filter for the AC.. if you have not replaced them in the last 30 days do so now. I suggest the more expensive pleated type filters. They look like a "W" and do a better job of removing dust etc.. forget the CHEAP fiberglass filters you can see through.. they do NOTHING or almost nothing to help with IAQ..


3.) if you have not cleaned the carpet in the past 12 months now's a good time to do that as well.. Hot Water Extraction or HWE, aka Steam Cleaning, is a deep cleaning with very hot water that helps remove the dirt, dust and pollution from down in the carpet. With the warm weather and AC running most carpets are dry in 2-4 hrs.

So there you have it. A couple of tips for helping you are your family breath a bit more easy.

Carpet cleaning in Raleigh nc in the heat..

The past couple day have been quite warm days making carpet cleaning in raleigh and cary NC tougher every day..

Yesterday we topped out at 96 deg.. today I think they are calling for 99 to 102 deg before its all said and done.

Have to tell you that make for a long hot day of carpet cleaning in and around the Raleigh area..

We had a bit of a slow down in calls this week as I think most are thinking about vacations and staying cool.

New/Used van added to fleet of carpet cleaning machines for Raleigh NC..

Found a nice used van with top of the line carpet cleaning equiptment in Atlanta last week.. Flew down on Sat morning to see it in person.. (had seen a bunch of picture) and was impressed with the total package..

Drove van to local Truck-Mount manufacturers location and did some much needed upgrades to equipment on board.

SNOW, SNOW, and More Snow..

WOW.... what a winter it has been so far. Seems like every time we turn around it snowing or going to snow.

Snow is great for kids.. they go out and play, roll around and bring the snow along with some dirt back in the house.. Plus with the house being closed up for the whole winter the carpet is working overtime to help filter the dust and pollution out of the air..

Another year has come and we look forward to seeing what it brings.. recently snow was the big news in our area.. schools are closed for day 3 due to road not being scraped by DOT. In years past you would see a couple snow plows every day. this year i have seen a total of 3 in the past 4 days and the subdivision roads are still in bad shape prompting the closing of schools for another day.

Oh well, that another thing to deal with and trying to work cleaning carpet and chimney in this stuff is a bear.. I was not able to get out on monday due to slick roads and the lack of salt/sand at a couple places that you have to stop on a hill before going onto the main road.

next couple of days are going to be wild as we are trying to catch up and keep up with the flow...

with school closed and the weather bad a lot of kids are going to be kooped up inside and ready to get out to play.. sunday and monday were good play in the snow days for sure.. bringing in lots of wet and dirty boots.

carpet cleaning will no doubt pickup soon as the weather will be getting nicer soon enough.
